EXPLANATION OF SPACES
If anyone knew the life of Steven Hawking, the one value concerned with life that stands out the most would be the falsity of perfection. Nothing in life is or will ever be perfect. We are thrown obstacles in which to overcome everyday, no matter the level of difficulty. This is represented by the use of symmetry to suggest perfection, however there are multiple aspects that enforce the opposite. The final result conveys that perfection isn’t an aim in life, but to aim for personal best and a result your proud of.
Like a parasite that latches itself onto the branch of a tree, the external structure is responsive to the structure required to withstand the forces of gravity, and hence deal with the concept of change. This space is dedicated to Charles Darwin as it represents a structure that is required to respond to an unusual situation in regard to the needs for structural support. This is similar to those in life who respond to change effectively, therefore getting further ahead in life. The use of natural materials such as timber, and marble, and natural deterioration processes such as oxidisation enforce the relationship between how a building operates in comparison to our lives.
The way the external structure seems to effortlessly hang from the main load wall conveys not only the possibilities within design today, but the lengths some architects are willing to go to to in which to achieve certain emotional responses... The negative side of such, is of course emphasised when your character falls to his/her death
